Amethyst Quartz Crystal Points Cluster from Diamond Hill Mine South Carolina

  
Weight= 1 lb, 7 oz. 4.5" x 4" x 2. This is a nice Amethyst cluster. Its sitting on a bed of druse that the amethyst overgrew. It stands up by itself but is a tad wobbly.

Has only slight tip damage, see pics. The large crystal has a large keyed area, this is where it grew against another point. Has a matte type luster.

It is from Diamond Hill in South Carolina. Jan/Feb 2009 Issue of Rock & Minerals. May 2006 Issue of Rock & Gem. Diamond Hill is located in upper part of South Carolina. Over millions of years, erosion has occured to the southern part of the Appalachian Mountains. This has exposed a small 3 acre spot full of some of the widest variety quartz crystals in the world, known as Diamond Hill! Some of the best Amethyst, Smokey, Skeletal(Elestial), Angle Plated, Iron Oxide & Manganese coated, Aura, and other crystals are found here! Other rare minerals have also been recovered! Since this is such a small area(3 acres), there is only a very limited supply of material left!
