Antique Victorian 14k Rose Gold Crystal Opal & Old Mine Cut Diamond Halo Ring. This fine antique ring has a strikingly beautiful crystal opal with three-dimensional green, blue and yellow play of color that is vivid and fiery against its soft, grayish-blue body tones. The opal is framed by a glittering cluster of sixteen old-mine-cut diamonds in a conforming oval halo.
The 13.81 x 6.31-mm opal, an estimated 1.95 carats, has excellent translucence with a fiery orange-red inner glow, a clean, highly polished surface, and is mounted in a secure setting of sixteen large, fully intact prongs. The 2.4-mm diamonds are all original old-mine-cuts, and grade to an average of J in color and SI1 in clarity with an estimated total of 1 carats, and the gold has a subtle pink hue.
In excellent condition, this lovely 19th Century ring tests positive for 14k gold, measures 1-inch north-south and 1/2-inches east-west at the face, a size 4.5 (sizable) and weighs 4.0 grams.
