A fantastic specimen with lots of gold that is very, very easy to see. If you like native gold specimens, I have others and you may wish to check out my other items. #9934 - You get the exact one shown here. There are 12 photographs so please look at them all.

THIS IS A MEDIUM Sized SPECIMEN SHOWN WITH BIG PICTURES but please note that the gold appears on your screen larger than life. This is a wedge shaped specimen that has 5 sides (a rectangle would have 6 sides, but this only has 5 sides since one side tapers to meet the others).

Gold is visible to varying degrees on 4 out of 5 sides! It's possible that the 5 side has gold that is hidden by the porous surface.

Since the gold is on most all sides and spread over a wide area the inside most likely contains a substantial amount of gold that is not seen. This is sawn on one side and the cut reveals that there is indeed gold in the interior. The flat sawn side means that it sits and displays well. The gold is very easy to see with the naked eye - I can see it quite well without my glasses on. With a loupe you can see fantastically exquisite crystal forms.

I don't use the term "fantastically exquisite" very often, but in this case it is justified. This is native gold on quartz crystals from a gold vein near the Rogue River in Oregon. This is nice CRYSTALLINE gold in wire/leaf form and is not weathered or rounded.

It has sharp crystal growth. This was dug in the 1980's by Lee Myers and will come with a specimen label to that effect. This has native gold on the top of some crystals and these are long flat wire-like growths but are probably technically considered "leaf" gold.

This is LOADED with crystalline gold. I can see these with my naked eyes (which is saying something as I have to wear glasses to read but I can see the gold without my glasses on) but the gold itself is very tiny. I'll say it again - just to be clear - the crystalline gold is small crystals/leafs but is plentiful and very easy to see.

Using a loupe, of course, shows the detail of the crystalline gold much better. On the crystals with a lot more visible gold I set the pricing according to both its over-all size and how much gold is visible. Please note that the gold is extremely visible and readily apparent. You won't have to hunt for it. You will not wonder where is the gold?

All though I have made some attempts at humor here, do not doubt for a second that this is an important specimen on a scientific basis. I know science turns a lot of people off that "just want the gold" but this is a good mineral specimen for the locality.

The specimen weighs approximately 3.85 ounces / 109 grams. This weight is approximate but believed to be accurate. I had to use my postal scale instead of my small precision scale because it is made to weigh faceted gemstones down to a tenth of a carat and has a max capacity of 50 grams.

The overall specimen size is approximately 1 3/4. " x 2 1/2" x 1 3/8 measured at its widest points. Do not be shocked when you get this that it is a nice sized hand specimen. This is a great example of crystalline gold and the structures indicate crystallinity as opposed to being shapeless non-crystalline "Blebs".

This is a medium sized specimen that does have visible gold that is easily visible to me without my glasses on! Way too often and it is almost a joke - but these are really and truly EXCEEDINGLY rare. Please understand that the photos are enlarged to show detail - however, the gold is readily apparent and plentiful. I have the best offer feature enabled. The first day or first week I will likely not take much less than the current asking price.

But in any event, making an unreasonably low offer will mean that I will not consider even a reasonable offer from that person later, on this particular item or any of my other items. Be a polite and reasonable adult and you'll go far in life. I have other gold specimens listed so be sure to check out my other items and I. This varies in part on which carrier I will have to use for each country. This is accurately described and photographed - I've made sure of that. If you send multiple payments I can't combine them. The shopping cart is your friend! By purchasing from me you agree to these terms. Unfortunately, a one ounce package with one small item still costs the minimum, but I can add extra similar sized items at essentially no extra charge (I have extra items set for one penny extra for the calculator to work). Packages weighing 16 ounces or more will be priced individually per weight and affected by the recipients distance from Atlanta, Georgia.

That little white box that protects the pick/crystal/gemstone is something most sellers dont even provide as most just put the pick in a zip baggie stapled to the packing slip.
